Northport, a Malaysia's World Port and recipient of MIHRM's "EMPLOYER OF CHOICE 2012" award, needs to ensure its workers are sufficiently skilled and knowledgeable to respond to the highly competitive operating environment. With a workforce of more than 2,500 in various areas of port operations and management, Northport is committed to meet industry trends by continuously rendering excellent services.  

As a pioneer port in the region,  Northport has established a Learning Center known as Northport International Center of Excellence (NICE).  

NICE aims to facilitate and provide both technical and soft skills training required for port operations and management.   Its certification program and offerings, framework and deliverable are in accordance to global and national standards.  In short,  NICE is a one stop learning center consistent with the nations's aspiration to produce skill workers needed by the industry.

One of the main factors for the success of Northport is our employees who with their invaluable experience and training have been able deliver the very best to the satisfaction of our customers. At Northport, we provide extensive skill-oriented training programs for our employees. Northport allocates about 1% of its payroll budget on training. Some of the areas that the training programs cover include safety and health, operative skills training, skills and refresher programs for marine, engineering and ancillary services as well as supervisory and computer literacy. In tandem with our continuous business growth, Northport carries out regular recruitment exercises to meet our increasing human resource needs.
